Welcome to the Hindu Temple & Cultural Centre, serving devotional, spiritual, cultural and social needs of people in Canberra.

The Hindu Temple and Cultural Centre (HTCC) is located at 81, Ratcliffe Crescent, Florey Canberra and it is the one of the first temples to be built in Nations Capital. This temple helps to promote and flourish the richness of the Hindu religion, culture, and philosophy.


Navaratri Celebrations - Sat 17 Oct to Sun 25 Oct

HTCC will celebrate Navratri from Saturday 17th October 2020 – Sunday 25th October as per the following program.

6.00 pm – 7.30 pm - Daily evening puja (Abhishek, puja, aarati)
8.00 pm to 9.30 PM - Garba - Arati (supported by GSA)

Kanya Pujan – Saturday 24 October 2020 - 9.00 am – 12.00 pm

Due to huge interest and restriction on number of attendees inside the temple, preference will be given to the devotees who have not got an opportunity to participate in a previous garba aarati.

Guidelines for Temple Visit

  • Registration is mandatory for participating above events.
  • The temple is following the COVID guidelines/restrictions during all the time the temple is open. All devotees who visit the temple should follow the 4 sqm rule. Please do not visit the temple and stay home if you are unwell.
  • With a COVID Safety Plan, places of worship can apply the ‘one person per 4 square meters of usable space’ rule up to a maximum of 200 people (excluding staff and those conducting the service) for each indoor space and each outdoor space. Based on this information, no more than 70 devotees may be inside the temple. In case there is more than 70 devotees. Organisers will ask late comers and/or non-registered devotees to leave or wait outside (and maintain the 4 sqm rule in the queue) until people leave to make room for those waiting
  • As advised please download the ‘Check in Cbr’ app and register yourself using the HTCC QR codes displayed at the entry gate. Alternatively, the devotees will be required to register their name/contact detail in the register provided at the entry gate.
  • Those performing Kanya Poojan should only bring packed and sealed gifts. No food prasadm will be allowed to be given to the children. Please maintain the 1.5 meter distance rule while performing the Kanya Poojan.
  • Home Cooked prasadam in any form will not be served during all nine days of the Navratari. Devotees are requested to bring fruits or dry fruit only as prasadam.

As you would have noticed the temple is now open with restricted hours in the evening for regular darshan. It is our shared and collective responsibility to ensure that we are maintaining the social distance and obeying all Government regulations for COVID management.

Please download the Check in CBR app and scan the QR code provided in the photo. That will help you to register your details. Alternatively you must register in the register provided before entering the temple.

Temple Opening

We are very pleased to announce that the Temple is now open for the devotees. Please note the following.

  • We have a limit of 75 persons in the Temple at a time. This may not be an issue till the Navaratris but please do keep this in mind. Please follow all the Covid related precautions when you visit the Temple.
  • The kitchen is not operational yet and the toilets are partially functional.
  • Please use the concrete walkway to go up to the main gate of the Temple. Please avoid going near the construction site

Please do note the temple is open with certain restrictions to keep us all safe. Please follow the Government COVID 19 guidelines while visiting the temple.

Please write your name and contact details in the register kept at the temple and use hand sanitizer provided, before entering temple.

Shanti Niketan update

HTCC EC is pleased to update about the Shanti Niketan project and repair work of the current temple hall.
Please note the following:

Due to unexpected expenses at the main temple hall, we are experiencing shortage of fund to continue progress of Shanti Niketan work and hence we are seeking your support and request you to generously donate for this project.

The temple premises is still part of Shanti Niketan construction site, so please do take care when you visit the temple and do not enter the construction area.

As you are aware, there are Government guidelines on social gathering and social distancing at the moment. These guidelines are almost on regular basis and quite frequently. We will update the temple operation and priest booking as regularly as we can.
